A review by Emma Streeton
Weir (aka WeirDo) is back and it is his birthday, a birthday that coincides with Planet Day. Hence the title “Planet Weird”. Weir’s party is going to be huge. So huge you will be able to see it from outer space! A party like this won’t be easy to pull off… but it will be funny!
Bookworm reaction
Strangely this book arrived on my oldest bookworm’s birthday and what a delightful surprise it was for her. She absolutely adores the WeirDo series and yet again was not disappointed by the latest addition. Anh Do is such a talented children’s author and I love the enjoyment my daughter gets out of reading his books. This one was no exception. There was laughs, gasps and envy as the plans for Weir’s birthday unfolded.
The verdict
Having read all the WeirDo series I am confident that these books can make even the most reluctant reader enjoy reading. They are simple, vibrant and engaging. The stories always deliver humour, the characters are delightful and appropriately develop as the series continues. They are just perfect for the audience they are written for.
Anh Do has delivered once more and I know for a fact this book, like his previous 14, will be read again and again in my house. There are not too many books that kids tend to want to read over and over, but this series certainly holds that appeal.
A fun, easy and engaging read with a happy ending. My bookworm thanks you once again Anh Do.
Read the WeirDo series if you enjoyed Willow Moss and the Forgotten Tale and Eddy Popcorn’s Guide to Parent Training.
