Lantern City
Lantern City is Bruce Boxleitner’s steampunk SF project, mentioned in his interview during the Armageddon Media Call in October 2012.
On Facebook, Lantern City said:
LANTERN CITY EXCLUSIVE: We are happy to announce actress Gigi Edgley has joined the cast of Bruce Boxleitner‘s “Lantern City.” Edgley is best known for her roles in television shows “Farscape,” “The Secret Life of Us,” “Rescue: Special Ops,” and “Tricky Business.” She will be playing the role of Naomi Jones, a rival to Rachel Kierson at Virginie Durand’s finishing school. Podcasters being sued
Personal Audio is suing podcasters for using podcast technology, claiming that it owns a patent for podcasting tech, describing it as
Apparatus for disseminating a series of episodes represented by media files via the Internet as said episodes become available…
So Personal Audio is seeking to patent an IDEA rather than a working technology. I’ll have more on this soon as I know someone who’s done A LOT of research into patenting technology.
The good news is the Electronic Frontier Foundation is looking to help, supporting podcasters being sued and providing a communications nexus.

Discourse
Discourse, a brand-new social media platform aiming to become the WordPress of forums to promote discussion, has launched. I’ve put my toe in the water and started a topic:
Science Fiction and Fantasy, the good, the bad and the ugly
My website https://www.darkmatterzine.com features science fiction and fantasy, so it’s hardly surprising I’m looking to start a discussion here 🙂
On twitter this morning I have been chatting with N.K. Jemisin, Kate Elliott, Trudi Canavan and Angela Slatter about comparisons with Twilight and some of our difficulties with Twilight. I respect Twilight fans but I don’t like the series myself, mostly because Bella, Edward and Jacob’s relationships are so unhealthy, without movement towards healthy relationships. Kate questioned why 100 year old vampires would want to go to high school, Angela replied ‘Predator’s candy store,’ which I think puts a whole new – worse – twist on Twilight.
What are your thoughts?
What do you enjoy? Compare what you like with Twilight!
If you’d like to join in discussion, here could be a good place.
