Tis the season for cosplayers to get all frocked up and display their creativity and their fannish preferences at expos and conventions. Supanova launched the cosplay season this year at the Melbourne showgrounds, attracting a diverse range of costumers.
With all the epic Star Trek actors as guests this year, I’m surprised there wasn’t an abundance of Star Trek cosplayers. The photographic minion saw a great Star Trek cosplayer in a wheelchair but dayum, those wheels were too quick for him! She disappeared before he could reach her.
I hope Supanova’s misspelling of the Star Trek actors’ names didn’t lead to confusion: Michelle Nichols and Walter Koeing might be passed over if people didn’t realise that Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig were there. At least Supanova spelled George Takei‘s name right on the tickets.
As well as all the Star Trek, anime and comic book people, Supanova’s epic lineup of authors included John Scalzi, Peter F Hamilton and Justin Woolley, three authors with whom I’m hoping to arrange interviews in the near future. I haz publicists’ details, I will wield my keyboard!
