Misfits TV series s02e06

Misfits season 2A review by Nalini Haynes

The Misfits are a group of 5 young offenders – Alisha, Curtis, Simon, Nathan and Kelly – doing community service after being caught in misdemeanors. After a storm gave them superpowers, they’ve been struggling to stay ahead while, preferably, staying alive in this comic book style TV series.

Finally the Misfits TV series goes public with superpowers.

Mr Milk Magician, the guy with the ‘worst superpower ever’ according to Kelly, poured coffee for people until the storm. The storm gave him a superpower: telekinetically controlling milk and milk products. Basically, he moves milk around with his mind.

The Misfits’ probation worker takes a backhander (bribe) to breach confidentiality and ‘out’ the Misfits to the media. An agent approaches them with offers of fame and fortune.

Simon, the brains of the group and Mr Invisible, advises against going public then disappears. The rest jump on the publicity wagon, reaping the benefits of fame – until it all goes horribly wrong. (Surprise!)

Going public was a long time coming but it was worth the wait. The comedy was over-the-top and somewhat black but it’s sure to be a highlight of the season for fans.

IMDB gives the series 8.5 out of 10 stars.

My rating for this episode: ★★★★☆ 4 out of 5 stars
