Kristin Cashore’s Graceling trilogy optioned for movies
Graceling, the best-selling young adult fantasy trilogy by the lovely Kristin Cashore has been optioned for movies. This means there’s a loooong way to go and no guarantees but the team to work on these movies ticks all the boxes for me.
Producer Deepak Nayar (Paranoia, Bend It Like Beckham, Buena Vista Social Club) will oversee the project for Reliance and Kintop Pictures and will produce alongside Tabrez Noorani (Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi) of Tamasha Talkies and Leigh Ann Burton for Blu-Sky Media. British screenwriter Piers Ashworth (Nostradamus: 2012, St. Trinian’s 1, 2 & 3) has signed on to write the script.
These people have all worked on some very good movies previously; hopefully they can bring the same magic to Kristin’s trilogy.
Rebecca Muir reviewed Graceling and Fire, the first two books in the series. A review of Bitterblue, the prequel, will be coming soon. When she spoke to Nalini Haynes of Dark Matter, Rhiannon Hart cited Kristin Cashore as one of her influences.
Movieweb quotes producer Deepak Nayar:
Reliance Entertainment and Kintop Pictures, as partners, are currently producing Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters.
