Everyone thinks Martin is the tidiest boy in town. They have no idea that he is also Fartboy, the STINKIEST super hero EVER. A disgustingly evil villain known as Madam Wax is terrorizing Sparkletown with sticky sculptures made out of her own earwax. But Fartboy is determined to stop her with his super-powered butt-blasts. I can not think why but my youngest bookworm was instantly attracted to this book after reading the title! Without any encouragement she delved in and read the book from front to back in one sitting and then later insisted on reading it aloud to the rest of the family at the dinner table. She was a fan of the book in an instant and I can honestly say with farts, ear wax and vomit galore, Wallace is sure to have a legion of young followers coming his way.
Funny
From the get-go this book is laugh out loud funny. The simple, humorous illustrations follow the story so well and, in my opinion, this is a great book to draw out even the most reluctant reader. On his blog the author Wallace says his passion is to bring excitement, energy, humor and joy to children (of all ages!) through his books. Fartboy certainly does just that. I think I have said before that there is nothing like witnessing your children fall in love with reading and having a great giggle at a book. Thank you Adam Wallace for delivering exactly this to my bookworm. For parents out there who feel discomfort at the over use of the word fart, I encourage you to face your fears and allow you and the younger generation some good honest fun!
Verdict
This is the second book in the Fartboy series and I have already been ordered by my little miss to hunt down a copy of the first installment. We most certainly look forward to Fartboy’s next stinky adventure.
