A review by Emma Streeton
The school holidays have started and Eddy Popcorn can’t wait to hang out with his friends. Then disaster strikes. Eddy’s parents ground him for not doing his homework. Faced with not seeing the beach or his mates for the whole holiday, Eddy puts all of his frustration into creating a helpful book for kids. He calls this book, Eddy Popcorn’s guide to parent training.
I enjoyed reading this with my eldest bookworm. It offered us so many funny, giggle out loud moments. For a little person to get ready for sleep it is ideal they be relaxed and happy. This book certainly makes you feel both of those things, making it the most perfect bedtime reader.
Parents, be warned!
My bookworm totally loved this book and got really into the idea of parent training… big gulp! She decided some parts weren’t for my eyes. I am sure she was taking notes. Scribbling down ideas of how she could train me no doubt!
Eddy is an exuberant and enthusiastic character who you cannot help but like. He provides important advice to youngsters such as how to survive being seen out in public in your parent’s daggy car, how to take control of the television remote and how to deal with your dad’s nose picking. Eddy sheds light on why parents do the weird and wacky things they do. He talks openly about how bizarre parents are and how annoying they can be. And questions why parents find it so hard to understand their kids. What is there not to love about the guy?! Trust me, kids will love him instantly!
The verdict
If you are looking for a book full of fun, Eddy Popcorn’s Guide To Parent Training is it. However it comes with an important disclosure from Eddy:
“This book is NFP (NOT FOR PARENTS). It contains material they may find offensive and, quite frankly, they don’t need to know about.”
Highly recommended. Read, laugh and enjoy.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I’m so glad that your bookworm loved Eddy. He’s pretty special to me too.
The bookworm in particular who reviewed Eddy is a very opinionated young lady. I adore her and her opinions. I’ll pass your message on to mother and daughter. Thanks for your comment!
