Death of the Daleks creator: long may he be remembered

It is with sadness that we note the passing of Raymond Cusick, designer of the Daleks.  Raymond died aged 84 on 21 February 2013, leaving two daughters and seven grandchildren – and millions of Doctor Who fans around the world.

The daleks terrified me as a child, and yet I just couldn’t stay away.  When an old Doctor Who movie was on TV when I was in high school, I remember getting really excited.  My childhood and those of millions of other fans, just would not have been the same without Raymond.  It was his creation of the daleks that cemented the success of Doctor Who, helping Doctor Who to become the phenomena it is today.

Thank you, Raymond.

My condolences to Raymond’s family, friends and fans.
