Yesterday’s post ‘Where does the light shine?‘ is ALL TRUE. Which is why today’s events make me want to SCREAM. LOUDLY.
This afternoon Smokey was sitting on the windowsill in the living room looking at us. The minion laughed, pointing out Smokey’s pose, saying, ‘She looks like she’s all ready for you to put a book next to her.’
Yeah, sure. After yesterday? No way. To prove my point I get two books that I REALLY REALLY want to read that are on my TBR pile and put them on the windowsill next to Smokey. These books are AA Bell‘s Diamond Eyes and Hindsight.
I put the books on the windowsill next to Smokey and waited for her to flick her tail and walk away. She didn’t. Seriously, SHE DIDN’T MOVE. I thought, I’ll show you. I got the camera out.
She stayed put.
I took off the lens cap.
Smokey looked at me.
I set up the camera.
Smokey was still there.
I took a photo without the flash so Smokey and the books were dark little silhouettes.
Smokey stayed put.
I set the camera to ‘you MUST flash’ mode.
Smokey LOOKED AT THE BOOKS LIKE SHE’S A MODEL POSING.
I took this photo.

Smokey didn’t move even after the flash went off. I didn’t know whether to cry, cheer or scream after yesterday so I compromised – I sat down at the computer, uploaded the photo and wrote this blog post. She didn’t move until I was half way through.
Seriously, Smokey? You couldn’t possibly have been this obliging yesterday???
Ironically the reason I haven’t read these books yet is the small print size as it’s in mass market paperback format and I’m vision impaired, but I WILL PREVAIL. Hubby and I are talking about buying a camera for disability access with OpenBook, awesome software. This will help me read small print at my computer without having to destroy a book by putting it through a scanner. We’re talking about buying it in the next few weeks now Hubby has another job [cheer!]
