Dark Matter is giving away two memberships (tickets) to Continuum 10, the Victorian science fiction convention and the 53rd Australian National Science Fiction Convention, to be held from 6–9 June 2014 at the InterContinental Melbourne Rialto, 495 Collins St, Melbourne.
Update:
There was one winner, Deb Gates. Deb said she really enjoyed Continuum!
No other entries were received. I suspect the wording of this competition made it sound like winners had to work for their prize.
I suspect more entries would have been received if I’d advertised in non-traditional spaces for Continuum. Between study and DMZ, I left this competition to pretty much advertise itself after linking to all the social media sites. Next time something like this occurs, ads should be placed in publications like ‘Starecase’ and other disability websites.
Terms & Conditions
To enter, send your name and postal address with answers to the following questions in email to darkmatterfanzine@gmail.com:
- Are you eligible for a current valid Australian healthcare card?

- How would attending Continuum 10 benefit you personally and/or how would you share this experience with others? (In 250 words or fewer.)
Put ‘Continuum 10’ in the subject heading. Emails must be received before 5pm AEST 31 March 2014.
Each prize is one adult membership for Continuum 10. This includes attendance at formally programmed events held by Continuum 10 at the Continuum 10 convention, as well as voting rights and nomination rights for Chronos and Ditmar Awards. Prize does NOT include travel, accommodation, food, drink or other support at the convention. (Consult with the Continuum 10 committee for disability access and/or other requirements.)

My partner and I are giving away our tickets in an effort to encourage others to work towards diversity by enabling people to attend who could not otherwise afford to go. This could be done by giving memberships to those who can’t otherwise attend or by communal fundraising. If every attendee paid an extra $10, several memberships could be given to those who can’t afford to attend.
I have volunteered to run a panel on ‘behind the scenes at Dark Matter‘, talking about how to run a website and/or how authors can network with online magazines and book bloggers. If this panel goes ahead, this will be my contribution and my sole attendance at Continuum 10 because those tickets are expensive and I’m a student!
