In the vein of Marian Chesney (think Georgette Heyer but more racy including some sexytimes), comes Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong. Andrew Blackshear travels hours to see a man about a bird (the feathered variety). Lucy Sharp, the man’s daughter, is outrageous. She finagles a ride in his coach to a house party at her aunt and uncle’s, but the trip goes perfectly wrong.
Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong is a rom-com with a preposterous premise for the Regency era. This initial premise is followed by increasingly outrageous behaviour. It’s a stocking topper filled to the brim with sexual tension. Unlike most stories set in this era, the aristocracy take note of those less well off than themselves. This show of humanity has disastrous effects.
I acquired A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong from Amazon for free, a rare occurrence in this era of “It’s free in the US while being overpriced in Australia”. A delicious read for those who love Regency romance comedies with racy bits. And boy, does Grant write sexual tension well! You’ll love this if you’re not a purist demanding meticulous historical accuracy realism.
