Blogging for gold

Categories:

This article on Mummy bloggers debunks a whole heap of myths.  I’d like to state for the record that I don’t get paid for anything that I write and if/when I actually do get paid, I’ll let people know.  I get free books to read and review, and if I think they are poorly written (as opposed to just not my taste) I will definitely let the reader know.

I have received media passes to Armageddon and Supanova to report on those events, and they’ve kindly allowed me one celebrity interview each so far.  I haven’t received any money for reporting on these events or interviewing the celebrities.

Competition prizes have been donated to Dark Matter, but mailing these to the winners is usually at my expense. Iron Sky sent me 10 double passes as competition prizes so I kept one to see the movie myself.

Next week I’ll be seeing Yunyu perform live in Melbourne, for which I’ve been given media passes, however I have never received any money or other perks for promoting Yunyu.

Yes I have advertising to the right of my page courtesy of Google Ads.  This is in the vain hope that this website might start paying for itself because Dark Matter runs on a handful of donations (thank you very much Anonymous) and our household expenses.  So far I haven’t received any money for allowing that advertising to run, and as it’s apparently a couple of cents if someone clicks on an ad, I’d be lucky to cover my postal costs from that revenue.

I might start putting ‘not a sponsored post’ on my posts, but even if I forget, assume that it’s not sponsored unless I state otherwise.
