By now you’d have to be living under a rock – or offline for a few days – not to know that the BBC leaked details for the first 5 episodes of the next season of Doctor Who. The BBC is entirely at fault for putting the scripts, complete with production notes, online on a publicly accessible website.
Doctor Who isn’t the only TV program that’s been leaked in this manner: Top Gear, Misfits and the Great British Bakeoff have also had their scripts uploaded to the same website.
The BBC urges people not to read the spoilers.
I try to avoid spoilers myself. I get annoyed when we know the actor playing the doctor is leaving nearly a whole season ahead of time. I get more annoyed when a new companion is announced, only to be killed. Again. And again. Because, without a ‘companion is leaving’ announcement, we know this ‘death’ isn’t real. The ‘zodes just don’t have the same impact as when Sarah Jane left the TARDIS and left me almost breathless or when Adric died and I sat, stunned, watching the silent credits.
I don’t like spoilers.
What about you?
