 About Peter McLean

My name is Peter McLean and I am the author of the War for the Rose Throne series of fantasy novels, Priest of Bones and Priest of Lies, published by Jo Fletcher Books at Quercus, and also the Burned Man series of urban fantasies published by Angry Robot. British Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 2019 shortlisted my novel. I am represented by Jennie Goloboy at DMLA, and can be found at my website or on Twitter.

Peter McLean’s offer

For #AuthorsForFireys I am offering two things.

Priest of Bones by Peter McLean Priest of Lies by Peter McLean

For readers: I’m offering a signed copy of any of my books (you choose). I will mail anywhere in the world, personalised how you want.

Bid on the tweet please.

For writers: I’ll provide feedback on your query letter and first 5 pages and answer any questions you have about the query process.

Bid on the tweet please.

How do you bid?

Just go to the Tweet you want to bid on and post your bid in AUD, and the highest bidder by 11pm on January 11th wins, it’s a s easy as that.

Why is Peter McLean contributing? He’s facing Brexit, a different kind of fire.

As for why I’m doing this, I might on the other side of the world in England, but this is a truly global disaster and I’m doing what little I can to help. My thoughts are with everyone affected by the fires, and especially the brave firefighters who are at the front line.

Update: new donation information.

As originally wanted by @EmilyGale and @NovaWeetman, this fundraiser is now officially for ALL fire services in Australia. The official Authors For Fireys Website will be updated accordingly. Winning bidders or auctioning authors can nominate funds to the fire service of their choice. #AuthorsForFireys.

Want to know if this is legit?

Yes, it is legit. The whole community — Australian and global — is rallying together to support Australian firefighters, wildlife recuse and bushfire victims. Here are some reports on this effort.

Fundraiser information from Emily Gale

The #AuthorsForFireys auction is taking place only on Twitter from Monday 6th January. It ends at 11pm AEST on Saturday 11th January. Scores of authors, illustrators and book industry people will host their own individual auction under the hashtag #AuthorsForFireys. (Also #AuthorsForFiries and now #AuthorsForWildlife). Bids will take place on each tweet. At the end, the highest bidder donates the amount directly to the firefighters fund or the Wildlife fund. After receiving proof of donation, Authors will dispatch or arrange delivery of the goods/services.

Items up for auction include signed books, original illustrations, one-off fan-art and craft, unique gifts and manuscript critiques for writers.

There is a supporting site, explaining how it works, at this address: https://authorsforfireys.wixsite.com/website.

Given the $43 million fundraiser (and climbing, thanks Celeste Barber) for the NSW RFS, proceeds from the #AuthorsForFireys auction are going to the CFA (Victoria), to help another beleaguered state.
