Press release

Rosemont, Illinois – February 13, 2014 – Anime Midwest is geared up to be one of the most exciting anime conventions to happen this year, with an epic guest list featuring over 8 different famous American voice actors, 7 different musical acts, 2 internet-based video creating groups, several American comics guests, and guests still to be announced from Japan.

Today, Anime Midwest is excited to announce voice actor D C Douglas will be attending in 2014. He will be participating in numerous panels, in addition to signing free autographs throughout the convention.

D C Douglas will forever be known as the sinister voice of Albert Wesker (Resident Evil), screaming “Chriiiisssss” as he melts in a lava lake. This is a far cry from his other roles, such as the persnickety alien Zepht in Star Trek: Enterprise or the logical Legion in the Mass Effect videogame series. He’s been in all sorts of video games, as The Master in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, AWACS in Ace Combat 6, Archangel Michael in Might & Magic Heroes VI, Raven in Tekken 6 and Street Fighter X Tekken, and Albert Wesker in Resident Evil: Umbrella, & Darkside Chronicles, Mercenaries, Capcom Versus Marvel 3 and Resident Evil 5. He gave voice to the Geth as Legion in Mass Effect 2 & 3. Douglas can be seen in the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Apocalypse Kiss as the serial killer Adrian (an homage to Albert Wesker) starring alongside Troma Pictures legend, Lloyd Kaufman.

D C Douglas joins a list of voice actors that includes Greg Ayres, Sonny Strait, Caitlin Glass, Chris Patton, Alexis Tipton, Laura Post, and Michelle Ann Dunphy. The complete list is shown on the anime guests page.

The three-day Anime Midwest convention is different than other anime conventions in many ways. To start with, the convention provides a “ConSweet” offering unlimited free soda, cup ramen noodles and steamed rice throughout the entire weekend. This is included complimentary with every attendee’s admission, which is between $40 and $55 for the entire weekend.

Anime Midwest is a highly social event, where attendees can also participate in the convention’s many social events specially designed to help fans make new friends and meet other fans. These events include numerous special panels, a cosplay Date Auction, and a formal Fantasy Ball complete with formal dance lessons for anyone interested.

In addition to social events, Anime Midwest hosts some of the biggest concerts possible. All attendees get free admission to completely-packed concerts featuring performers like Steam Powered Giraffe, Frenchy and the Punk, and Raj Ramayya. Anime Midwest’s Anime Wonderland dance, held on Friday and Saturday nights, features some of the best DJs to play at clubs, conventions, or anywhere, and Anime Midwest’s grand mainstage features a sound system with nearly a dozen giant subwoofers.

Attending Anime Midwest is inexpensive. Hotel rooms cost only $104 per night, and registration is currently only $45 per person. Registration details can be found at http://animemidwest.com/register

Just about 10,000 people are expected to congregate at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare and Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois this July 4-6, 2014.
