items received for May

Items received during the month of May (mostly the last week or so; I think publishers took too much notice of me saying “I’ll have more time during the mid-year break”.)

  • Convergence by David Henley — 3rd and final portion of the Hunt for Pierre Jnr
  • Darkling Child (Defenders of Shannara) by Terry Brooks — fantasy
  • Day Shift by Charlaine Harris — the sequel to Midnight Crossroads
  • Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir — interracial fantasy

  • Hexed: the Sisters of Witchdown by Michael Alan Nelson — comic made into a novel
  • In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume — a disaster story
  • Novice (Summoner book 1) by Taran Matharu — fantasy
  • Poseidon’s Wake by Alastair Reynolds — space opera at its finest
  • Seveneves by Neal Stephenson — possibly the best opener for an SF story; I’m still reading
  • Thirst by Lizzie Wilcock — YA
  • Wake by Elizabeth Knox — creepy horror according to Laini Taylor (Knox is an excellent author)
  • Water Knife by Paolo Bacigalupi — near-future science fiction/speculative fiction
